Vlad Constantin Babii

VLAD CONSTANTIN BABII, 51, died Saturday, September 25, 2021, in the presence and care of family and friends, at his home in Westchester, New York, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 26, 1970, to Ion and Gabriela Babii, in Husi, Vaslui, Romania, he grew up surrounded by vineyards in the middle of a large family that he was so proud of. After graduating Mathematics at "A.I. Cuza" University in Iasi, Romania, Vlad came to the United States and continued his studies at Baruch College, New York, in financial engineering. He was wise beyond his education and worked as a high school teacher in Romania and as a VP Algorithmic Trading for Merrill Lynch/BofA and Citigroup in New York. He dearly loved his hometown house in Husi "the green gate", and likewise he enjoyed renovating the home in which his children are safely raised. He was happiest skiing, playing soccer and tennis, teaching math, or behind the wheel of a car. He always enjoyed a good steak with a fine glass of red wine in the company of family and friends. He was fond of being outdoors and vacationing with his family. He will be remembered for his jokes, his unfailing work ethic, his willingness to help anybody, and his humbleness. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring eternal wife, Ecaterina Monica, by his loving children Anna and Andrew, his aunts Veronica and Rodica and his in-laws Maria, Stefan and Bogdan. The family wishes to thank Columbia University Hospital, White Plains Hospital and Calvary Hospital for their services. Friends are invited to celebrate Vlad's life in Tarrytown at a viewing from 4-9 pm on Tuesday, September 28, at Dwyer & Michael's Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 11am at the Chapel of Gate of Heaven, 10 W Stevens Ave., Hawthorne, NY, 10532.
