Patricia Tucker

Patricia (Pat) Tucker of the Bronx, New York passed on December 22, 2024, at 91 years of age. She was born on August 1, 1933, at Fitch’s Sanitarium in the Bronx. She was raised at 2316 Andrews Avenue by her mother and father, Helen and Michael McNeill, along with her brother Bobby, predeceased, and her sister Roseanne. She attended Saint Nicholas of Tolentine Grammar and High School, receiving honors throughout. She married Frank Tucker, also from Andrews Avenue, on October 26th, 1957, and resided at 175 Father Zeiser Place, where she went on to raise her four sons. She attended Columbia University School of Nursing, where she graduated with honors and began her nursing career in the pediatric unit of Columbia Hospital. On June 1, 1959 she gave birth to a son, William Paul, then Christopher, Gerard and Joseph quickly followed. She stopped working to raise her children and later returned to Saint Nicholas of Tolentine, this time to become the school nurse where she began her teaching career, teaching health and nutrition. In the early 1980s, she continued her education, graduating from Mount Saint Vincent College in 1986. She graduated Suma Cum Laude with a perfect 4.0 average and won the departmental medal for Health Education. She later worked at Horace Mann school in Riverdale NY, as the school nurse and health teacher. She then moved to Dobbs Ferry in Westchester county and quickly became part of the community. In retirement, she indulged in her love of travel, music, and the arts, and time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was a voracious reader and lifelong learner and dreamer. She was an accomplished pianist, and loved teaching her granddaughters how to play. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed experimenting with food. She took great pride in exposing her grandchildren to the arts, taking them to the ballet, opera, Broadway, museums, and countless other cultural activities. She was a person of deep faith in God and church, and became a Eucharistic minister, delivering the holy Eucharist to the home bound and ill. She was universally regarded as a warm, sweet, nurturing, kind, wonderful woman, who always had a smile and a nice thing to say. To quote her son Gerard, “we were lucky we had a great mom”. She is predeceased by her parents Michael and Helen McNeill, her brother Robert, and her loving husband Frank. She is survived by her four children William (Sherry), Christopher (Diane), Gerard (Kia), and Joseph, eight grandchildren Melissa, Krista, Erin, Michael, Caitlin, Juliette, Grace, and Matthew, and one great grandchild Savannah.
