Rickey and Carmen Sbezzi, united in marriage for 58 years, died hours apart on Oct. 28 from injuries suffered in an auto accident earlier that day. The Sbezzi’s first lived in what was then North Tarrytown beginning in 1958 and later moved to Tarrytown. The couple was extremely proud of their two devoted daughters, Nadine Sbezzi and Erica Linn. Rickey and Carmen were beloved for their compassion, generosity and their devotion to their community and family. They touched the lives of everyone they met. Rickey, born Sept. 6 1934, (82), the daughter of Filomena Nicholais and Larry Francomano, expressed her exuberance through music. She cut a demo for Columbia Records in 1966 and was a member of the Old Mill Singers for three decades. Her strong, melodic voice appealed to audiences wherever she performed. She sang joyfully at Christmas and delighted in every holiday. Carmen, born Nov. 23,1935 (80), born to Nellie and Gene Sbezzi, graduated from Manhattan College in 1958. He joined J.A. Sexauer in 1963 as a purchasing agent but soon oversaw a national staff as vice president of sales. His caring demeanor endeared him to employees, many of whom benefitted from his leadership and friendship. He contributed greatly to the company’s growth before his retirement in 2000. Rickey was pre-deceased by her father, Henry Izzillo, and a sister, Inez Tramo, and her brother in law, Mike. Rickey and Carmen are survived by Rickey’s sister, Frances, brother-in-law Jerry and nephews Mark, David and Mathew. .
