"Donovan Michael Anthony Marsden passed away at the age of 68 in Valhalla, NY on November 29, 2018. He was born on February 3, 1950 to Noel Marsden and Sybil Gordon in Kingston, Jamaica. Donovan and his family moved to Brooklyn, NY and shortly after he enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18. He fought in the Vietnam War (1968-1971) and was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas and abroad in Hong Kong. After 3 years, he was honorably discharged with many medals and badges representative of his dedication to the 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightning), including an Air Medal and Expert Marksmanship Badge. After his return from the military, he lived in Florida and New Jersey before settling in Westchester, NY. He continued his education, received a Network Administration certification from Skidmore College, and was devoted to his work as an IT specialist, most recently for AIG and Morgan Stanley. A true jack of all trades, Donovan had an endless list of hobbies including engineering, writing, bicycles, cars, and soccer. Above all, he was known for his exceptional chess playing skills. He will forever be remembered as an intelligent, “stand-up guy ” to many friends, selfless brother to Elizabeth and Chantal, an unconditionally loving father to Gordon, Monica, Samantha and Devin, and best friend to granddaughter, Ariana."
