Moises “Muchila” Rodriguez passed away on November 2, 2024 at the age of 87 at Phelps Hospital. Son of Benedicto Rodriguez and Clementina Molina he was born on February 17, 1937 in Sigsipamba, Ecuador. As a young man, he left his hometown to start his own business in Guayaquil, where he met the love of his life, Flora. With his persistence, respect, and unwavering love, he won her heart, and they married on May 8, 1965. Together, they welcomed two beautiful children, Wilson and Nancy. He earned the affectionate nickname “Muchila,” meaning “backpack,” due to his cautious nature and readiness for any situation. He made the courageous decision to immigrate to the United States in search of a better future for his family. Once his family joined him, he worked tirelessly to provide a stable and loving home, embodying the values of hard work and devotion. Moises will be remembered as an exemplary husband, father, grandfather, and godfather to his “Pattita”, whose spirit touched all who knew him. He had a passion for plants and the accordion, which brought joy not only to him but to those around him. His legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded to heaven by his father and mother, aunts and uncles, and his beloved brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife and mother of his children, Maria (Flora); their children: Wilson and Nancy and her husband, Ricardo; Four grandchildren: Nicholas, Antonio, Alexander, and Haris; sisters Guillermina and Amelia; and brothers Samuel, Luis, and Leon as well as many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Moises was a deeply beloved father, grandfather, godfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected but quick, just like he always hoped it would be. While we lost our most beloved husband and dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. We invite you all to share pictures or memories.
